Entrepreneur Work and Residence visas are available to anyone who want to start their own business in New Zealand. The New Zealand entrepreneur visa is the first step toward obtaining permanent residence through a company investment. A minimum investment of NZ$100,000, a business plan, and a specified score on a scale indicating the enterprise’s likelihood of success and value to the country are required for this category. If authorised, candidates will have one year to start their firm and two more years to manage it before asking for residency.

This three-year work visa is broken down into two components:

If your application is correct, you will be granted a 12-month work visa, which will allow you to buy or start a business in New Zealand.

The remaining 24 months of your visa are granted once you have demonstrated that you have taken steps to establish your firm.

There are two components to this three-year work visa:

One hundred twenty points or more for a minimum capital investment of NZ$100,000 (excluding working capital), with points awarded for factors related to the business’s potential success and contribution to New Zealand.

The primary candidate must submit a detailed business plan and a clean recent history of bankruptcy, business failure, and fraud.

The main candidate must meet health, character, and English language standards for a New Zealand entrepreneur visa.

The following are the main advantages for Investor Visa applicants:

Direct entry into New Zealand as a permanent resident. A procedure that is streamlined and prioritised:

  • Prioritisation of processing
  • Only immigration officials regarded as business immigration specialists will decide on applications.

The application includes your partner and dependant children; English language requirements are less stringent; you pick how and where you invest your assets in New Zealand.

Entrepreneurial residence

If you have developed a high-growth, innovative firm with export potential in New Zealand, the Entrepreneur Residence type allows you to live in New Zealand permanently. Under this policy, there are two ways to qualify for residency:

Entrepreneur Residence Category (2 years) – You must have successfully started or purchased a business in New Zealand, been self-employed for at least two years in that business, and your business must have significantly benefited New Zealand.

Entrepreneur Residence Category (6 months) — If you have invested at least NZ$500,000 in your firm and produced at least three new full-time jobs for New Zealand citizens or residents, this option provides a speedier path to residency.

You must meet health, character, and English language standards for both selections.

Included in the family:

If a spouse or dependant child under 19 is accompanying an Entrepreneur Work Visa holder to New Zealand, they may be awarded work and student visas. They can also be included in an application for an Entrepreneur Residence Visa.
