How to Draw a Hotdog – let’s get initiated!

Step 1

In this first step of our guide on how to draw a hot dog, we’ll start with the outline of the bun and the sausage inside. These will be drawn with curved and rounded lines connecting each other. We won’t add many lines to the interior because we’ll draw some details later. Once you have the lines as seen in our reference image, you’re ready to go!

Step 2

We will finish the bun’s middle outline in the next part of your hot dog drawing. To do this, you’ll use more curvy lines to connect the part of the bun closest to us. Although we will be adding details to the interior, we can still finish the interior of the arch here. Then once you’ve drawn this part, you can add a few dots for additional texture detail. That’s all there is to it for this step, and now you’re in part 3!

Step 3

For this third part of our guide on how to draw a hotdog, we’ll start with the sausage and the sauce that goes with it. First, add some lines to the end of the sausage for some textural detail. Then we’ll start drawing some sauce that snakes down the hot dog. These sauce trails will be drawn with curvy lines going up the hot dog in a long, winding path. We’ll draw this sauce trail halfway up the hot dog.

Step 4

We’ll continue with the sauce snaking down the hotdog for this step of your hotdog drawing. To do this, extend the wavy lines further up the hot dog until they reach near the top. That will leave only a small space to draw, and we’ll take care of that in the next step!

Step 5

This step of our guide on drawing a hot dog will be about finishing the final details before coloring it. To do this, keep drawing the jagged lines of the sauce to the end of the hot dog. A few more stitches and little touches will finish the hot dog nicely! However, you don’t have to go to the final step yet. Before you do, you can also add details of your own to put your touches on this drawing. There are so many ideas you could go with to make this!

You can draw your favorite toppings on the hotdog or add more sauce! Remember that this drawing is about creating your ideal hot dog, so add all your favorites. You can also draw an accompanying background to show what kind of environment this hot dog would enjoy! If you’re feeling more creative, you can also draw additional types of food you would enjoy. What clever details choice do you use for this great drawing of yours?

Step 6

For the final step of our guide on how to draw a hotdog, we’ll work on adding some amazing colors to it. Our reference image shows you only one way to color it. We used a little bit of dark orange and yellow for the buns, and then we used a little bit of red and bright yellow for the ketchup and mustard. Finally, we used some shades of brown for the sausage. However, as we mentioned, this is only one way. However, it is your drawing, and you should use whatever colors you like!

If you draw additional ingredients, a background, or another food, that gives you even more elements to color. You can also enjoy using your favorite art media to finish it! Brighter mediums like acrylic paints or colored pens would help the colors pop! If you prefer a more subdued look, that will look great too. It’s all up to you, and we can’t linger to see what you prefer!
