How to Make Cannabis Oil From Flowers

CBD oils and tinctures can be a great way to consume CBD. This is a quick, efficient and cost-effective way to get the CBD benefits without having to break down or roll CBD buds.

The Health Benefits of CBD oil

Hemp-derived CBD oil contains high levels of cannabidiol. This naturally occurring compound interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid systems. CBD oil has been gaining popularity and people are now able to make their own.

Hemp-sourced CBD products are less than 0.3% THC, and permit users to consume cannabidiol without the high. The 2018 Farm Bill made hemp legal in all 50 states, making it widely available for consumers.

CBD oil is made from the flowers, leaves, and stalks harvested from hemp plants. It differs from hemp seed oil which comes from cannabis sativa and cannabis oil which contains high amounts of THC. Hemp CBD oil is high in CBD, but doesn’t give you the “high” that is normally associated with cannabis.

CBD oil has become a very popular way to get CBD. It is easy to use and effective. CBD tinctures have high bioavailability, are easy to mix with foods and drinks, and unlike CBD flowers, don’t have to search for a private place to smoke.

The best thing about CBD oil is that it can be made at home with regular ingredients that you may already have in your kitchen.

DIY CBD oil: How to make CBD Oil from Hemp Flower in Your Kitchen

High-quality CBD oil can only be made by large batches with advanced machinery. There are however simple and easy ways to make CBD oil from hemp flowers at home.

Why bother making CBD oil at your home?

Every hemp consumer is aware that each hemp flower variety offers a wide range of cannabinoid compounds, terpenes and flavonoids. These substances affect the product’s aroma, taste and benefits.

There might not be any commercial CBD oil made from the strain you prefer. You can make your own CBD oil at home by using a tincture bottle. This allows you to concentrate the effects from your favorite strain and create your customized CBD-rich supplement.

Cooking is a necessary step in making CBD oil at home. The commercial methods for CBD oil extraction and tincture manufacturing involve the direct extraction of oil from hemp plant matter. It is dangerous to try this at home.

How to Make CBD Oil at Your Home

The same preparation is used for all homemade CBD oil recipes: oil or fat cooking of hemp flower buds. The final product’s taste and properties will be affected by the carrier oil used. Olive oil, butter or coconut oil can all be used.

The best ingredient in CBD oil is fresh, high-quality hemp flowers. Get the best buds possible. High-quality material will be available to you through the use of superior strains, perfect growing conditions, harvest time, and a meticulous curing process.

You can also use smaller CBD Buds which are cheaper but still have the same potency for homemade tinctures. You can choose between Indica or Sativa strains depending on your desired effects.

1. Decarboxylation

Before you cook your CBD buds, always decarboxylate them. CBDA, a precursor to cannabinoid, is transformed into stable, beneficial CBDA by decarboxylation. Decarboxylation produces a predictable and more stable product.

The next step is easy: break or grind the hemp buds and place them onto a baking sheet covered with baking paper. The cookie sheet should be placed in an oven at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for between 30 and 45 minutes. Your hemp buds will be decarboxyled by the heat. This process will continue as you cook.

A decarboxylator allows you to achieve and maintain the optimal temperature for maximum CBD activation. A precision cooker is a great investment if you intend to make CBD oil at home often.

2. Prepare Your Kitchen

Clear your stovetop and remove any fire hazards before you begin cooking. Open a window to check that the exhaust fan in your kitchen is operating properly.

The following ingredients and equipment are required:

3-10 grams of your Best strain of CBD Flower (you might want to use an accurate kitchen scale to measure)

1 cup carrier oil such as coconut oil, olive or butter

For low heat cooking, a double boiler or crockpot is ideal.

  • A mesh strainer
  • A cheesecloth
  • Mixing bowl
  • A storage container, preferable a glass jar
  • A probe thermometer

3. How to cook the buds

Turn your crockpot on low, or pour water into the bottom of the double boiler and place it over a low flame. Place the carrier oil in either the crockpot, or the top section of the double boiler. You should wait until the oil is melted completely before adding the hemp flower.

Next, add your pre-decarboxylated organic hemp flowers to the double boiler or crockpot.

Monitor the temperature of your probe thermometer while stirring frequently. You want to keep the temperature between 130 and 160 degrees Fahrenheit, but not exceed 200 degrees. This preserves the beneficial properties and health benefits of hemp flower.

Keeps the oil simmering for another 30-60 minutes. Then, remove it from the heat. To catch any plant matter, place a strainer on top of a bowl. Line it with cheesecloth. Place the CBD oil in the strainer. Let it cool in the bowl. Place the final product in a mason container or another storage container.

Storing CBD Oils

CBD-rich tinctures that are properly stored can last for a long time without losing any of their benefits. Your CBD-infused oil should be kept in the fridge with a clear label.

You can keep your CBD oil fresh by limiting its exposure to light and oxygen. A clear glass container is best, but a regular mason can is also a good choice. Plastic containers are not recommended as they can compromise your infusion.

After using CBD oil, it is important to seal the container well and place it in the fridge.

How to Use CBD Oil

Your homemade CBD oil can be added to many different foods. To preserve the beneficial properties of your high-CBD oil when you cook with it, be sure to follow these steps.

You should heat your CBD oil on a low heat.

CBD oil is not suitable for frying or sauteing. Many people love to use the oil in light poaching, with temperature control or in salad dressings such as vinaigrette. Spreading hemp-infused butter on your morning toast will give it a unique twist.

Making CBD Oil Taste More Delicious

Butter or CBD oil made from hemp flowers will have a distinct and grassy taste. This is in contrast to the neutral-tasting CBD isolate. It is better to experiment with the flavor and then increases your quantities.

You can also add CBD oil to food or drinks with strong flavors. This can mask the hemp flavor. The hemp flavor can be masked by many cooking herbs and acidic fruits and vegetables, such as tomatoes, peppers, oranges, and other citrus fruits and vegetables.

Keep in mind, however, that CBD oil can be diluted if it is used as a minor ingredient in a recipe.

To enhance the flavor of your CBD tincture, you can add extracts like mint, citrus, and vanilla. You can also make your own CBD gummy bears if flavor is a problem. These gummy bears taste delicious and can be used 30-40 minutes before bed to promote healthy sleeping patterns.
