Hull Hold 10-Man Blackpool to a 2-2 Draw

Hull held 10-man Blackpool to a 2-2 draw in their EFL Championship opener at the John Smith’s Stadium. It was the Hull club’s first away win of the season and a victory that keeps them in contention for promotion to the Premier League. But it could prove to be a tough one to come by. As the Tigers have already lost twice in their opening three matches, they will need to be at their best in order to maintain a solid position in the league.

88 times in the EFL Championship

Hull City have taken 28 points from 30 matches against Blackpool in the EFL Championship. They have also drawn two of the last three games. However, they have won just one match from the opening eight matches of the season.

Oscar Estupinan is a Colombian striker who has eight goals and an assist to his name in the current EFL Championship campaign. He has played in all 23 games so far. His goal against Blackpool in December was his fifth in his career.

Among the other outstanding players in the EFL Championship this season is 26-year-old English striker Jerry Yates. His nine goals and two assists are his most in a single season in the Championship.

Former Manchester United and Burnley player Les Shannon has managed the Seasiders in the past. He took the job in the 1969-70 season and guided them back to the top flight.

Defeat at Preston

Preston Rovers produced a brilliant comeback to beat Hull 2-1 at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday. The visitors were reduced to ten men after Jordan Thorniley was sent off in the 65th minute. It wasn’t a raging battle, however, as Blackpool failed to make a mark until the 68th minute.

Hull started the game in fine form. They won the ball back with ease and pressed the home side hard. Allan McGregor did well to keep the score down.

Hull were able to play their game on the break, although they weren’t too comfortable in possession. Lewis Hamilton was a revelation in midfield. He raced from one end to the other.

Preston were also impressive. Tom Barkhuizen provided the opening goal after 37 minutes. A smart cross from Daniel Johnson set Barkhuizen on his way. Alfie Jones’ effort was deflected for a corner.

Blackpool put their name on the scoresheet, though, thanks to two goals from Jerry Yates. He powered in a powerful shot into the far corner. His second came after he was aided by Patino’s assist.

Comparisons with Southampton

If Hull win at Blackpool on Sunday, they will be promoted. The match will be the first time the two clubs have played each other since 2006. But the teams have been in similar positions over the past season.

In the Premier League, Leicester have failed to score on their away trips for the first time in eight years. They also had the lowest average attendance in the division. Brighton look dangerous in possession but lack a natural striker.

Blackpool were a little more impressive in their own right. Their victory was the first in three months. It was against Bolton Wanderers. A cross from the corner of the area was powered home by Evans.

And the FA Cup was the first silverware for the club. However, they were eliminated in the second round.

Blackpool had a long history of relegation from English professional football. They were relegated in 1990 and then again in 2000. After a few seasons in the third tier of English football, they returned to the top flight in 2010.

They had won a League Cup in 1960-61 and reached the final of the FA Cup in 2007.

Jury’s verdict

The jury is not yet ready to make its decision on the case of Libby Relowicz. But the judge has said she is willing to accept a majority verdict.

A jury is composed of twelve members of the public. They decide on the facts of the case, and on the guilt or innocence of the defendants. In a criminal trial, the jury must reach a unanimous verdict after two hours of deliberation. Its decision is not subject to appeal, but it is up to the judge to sentence the defendant.

The jurors may keep notes about their deliberations, and may pass them to the forewoman. They are also able to ask questions of the judge. However, they are prohibited from speaking to anyone outside the jury, and they are not allowed to talk about the case with any other person.

The foreperson of the jury is an informal chairperson of the group. He or she is expected to keep the group together during the proceedings. The foreperson must stay in the jury box until the judge tells them to leave.
