His father is a veteran, who served in the U.S. Army, and his mother was a postal worker for the United States Postal Service. Cole’s father walked out of the lives of his family when Cole was just a small child. His mother decided to move to the United States, to North Carolina, along with him and his older brother Zach.

As a young boy, Cole developed a liking towards basketball as well as music and served as a first-chair violinist for the Terry Sanford Orchestra until 2003.
