Park Ji-min, more famously recognized as Jimin (born on October 13, 1995, in the Geumjeong District of Busan, South Korea), is a singer and dancer from South Korea. He is best known for his work as a member of the legendary South Korean boy band BTS. His stage name Jimin means “wisdom higher than the sky.”
While studying modern dance at Busan High School of Arts, Jimin was one of the top talents in his batch. Soon a teacher recognized his forte and suggested that Jimin should try his luck in the entertainment industry. After passing an audition at Big Hit Entertainment in Busan In 2012, he flew to Seoul in order to join the boy band as a trainee. He was introduced as a member of the BTS group to give his first public performance as a singer and dancer in 2013.
Jimin has been featured in countless hit songs throughout his career. His first solo song was “Lie” from the band’s second studio album, “Wings,” released back in 2016. His other popular singles include “Serendipity” and “Filter,” where the former is from their third studio album, “Love Yourself: Her,” and the latter is part of the group’s fourth album, “Map of the Soul: 7,” released on February 21, 2020, with positive reviews across the board. As a whole, he has been praised for his powerful vocal performance throughout.
Jimin’s traditional South Korean family consists of his parents and younger brother. His parents run a restaurant in Busan and have been very supportive throughout his career. He is the latest recruited member of BTS and the only one with no prior experience in show business before becoming part of the group. In addition to his singing career, Jimin has had success as a model, making it onto the pages of numerous magazines internationally.
After joining the group in 2013, Jimin rose quickly through the ranks to become one of its most recognizable faces and voices. In an interview, he explained that the group’s members are very close to each other, and they often spend time together outside of work. This closeness has helped him, along with other members, to stay grounded even though they have become incredibly successful.
