On the island of Maui, Kahului and Wailuku are part of the new community known as Blue Zones Project – Central Maui, which was established in the fall of 2017. They’re off to a tremendous start, having already gotten a lot of community participation and making a significant difference during their week of enjoyable Kickoff events in August!
KAPOLEI-EWA
Another brand-new Blue Zones Project neighborhood in Hawaii is Kapolei-Ewa. The team here is excited to build a healthier, happier Kapolei-Ewa after debuting at the start of 2018 and energizing neighborhood groups, schools, and communities.
KOOLAUPOKO
On the island of Oahu, Kailua, Kaneohe, and Waimanalo are part of the Blue Zones Project – Koolaupoko. Koolaupoko has encouraged its residents to embrace a Blue Zones Project lifestyle since its introduction in the fall of 2015 by providing a variety of cooking, gardening, and purpose classes in addition to its most recent successful 10-Week Summer Strut Challenge.
Manoa, Makiki, McCully, and Moiliili
Their well-being activities were introduced by the Blue Zones Project – Manoa, Makiki, McCully, and Moiliili at the beginning of 2018. You’re likely to encounter the smiling faces of healthy, happy, and active people whether you’re walking, biking, or just driving through the region!
WAHIAWA
Blue Zones Project – Wahiawa is delighted to be one of the newest Blue Zones Project Demonstration towns on O’ahu and is conveniently situated. Wa hi awa, which refers to the loud waves that can be heard here, meaning “place of noise.” You can count on Wahiawa to become a shining example of good health, whether it be through surfing, walking, or gardening.
