Men’s Robe – Consider Your Lifestyle

Spread the love

When buying a men’s robe, you should consider the fabric first, and then the style. Each fabric offers its own level of warmth, durability, modesty and function. Some choices are Terry, Velour, Satin, Broadcloth and Fleece. Cotton is commonly used in a lot of these materials because of its feel, wash ability and flexibility. Style depends on why and where you will be wearing your robe.

Your lifestyle and health concerns will determine which material is right for you. Some men feel warm very easily, and only prefer lightweight material such as a 100% cotton waffle design. Seersucker is a popular choice for spring, summer and warm climates; the way the cotton is woven, it holds the material away from the skin, allowing heat to dissipate.

If warmth is an important criterion, consider Fleece, Broadcloth, or Flannel. Flannel is a common winter choice. It is slightly napped, made from cotton and very soft. It wicks away moisture, and leaves you dry and warm silk robes for men. Micro fleece is also very popular because it’s light but feels like a blanket. Broadcloth, another warm choice, is a dense weave, sometimes made out of wool.

If you seek luxury or romance, a higher end material like worsted Cashmere might be your taste. Cashmere has natural insulation and will keep you warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s hot. Similarly, silk charmeuse is fancy with a satin smooth finish. A less expensive luxury material is Velour. Velour has a thick soft nap made out of cotton or polyester. It is stretchy, with a rich appearance.

Style is very subjective to taste, but there are also practical factors to consider. There is a classic style robe with a shawl collar, cuffed sleeves, two pockets and a sash. Other options to note are length of robe, hooded or hoodless, length of sleeves, print, color, pockets, trim, and brand name. Pockets are great to hold tissues, remotes, and other personal items. Hoods are advantageous to drying off after a shower. Short robes, a satin and linen travel robe, for instance, are great for packing and wearing at the beach. Long robes cover you and ensure modesty. Short sleeves are comfortable if you will be preparing food, cleaning the house and moving around a lot. You can decide on solid prints, novelty prints, plaid, or stripes depending on your preference. Some robes have complementing color trim down the front.

If the robe is a gift purchase, consider a brand name such as Polo Ralph Lauren. You can buy a men’s robe for groomsmen, Father’s Day, Grandpa’s birthday, Valentine’s Day and Christmas. Some companies will monogram your robe for an extra touch.

Men’s Robes are also being purchased for Halloween costumes or just for fun. You can buy a king robe or a Harry Potter, Rocky Balboa, Burger King, Jedi, Harley-Davidson, or Hugh Hefner costume. There are also superheros or characters from television printed on robes.
