The NEET 2023 exam pattern was determined by the National Testing Agency (NTA). This exam tends to choose the top rankers for multiple medical courses. The NEET 2023 exam will be conducted on May 7, 2023.

Owing to the NEET exam pattern and colourful changes in the past 2 years (the total duration of the exam increased by 20 minutes), it is anticipated that the NEET exam pattern 2023 will remain the same as the former 2022 pattern.

As per the marking scheme of the NEET UG exam pattern, each question carries 4 marks, and 1 mark will be subtracted for each wrong answer. The grand aggregate for this exam is 720 marks.

NEET exam pattern 2023:

Applicants aiming to appear for NEET 2023 must be acquainted of the exam pattern while preparing.

The most recent NEET exam pattern (2023) provides applicants with further questions to attempt. Each of the subjects will have two sections with 35 and 15 questions, independently. In the alternate section, candidates will have to attempt 10 out of 15 questions.

Candidates who wish to write the NEET exam in 2023 must be well-versed in the exam pattern. Details of the NEET exam pattern for 2023 are given in the table below.

According to the NEET 2023 Exam pattern, candidates will be given an OMR sheet to mark their responses. Therefore, it becomes important to know everything about the OMR sheet and how to mark the responses on it. Important points to recollect while marking the OMR sheet includes

  • Answers have to be marked using a ballpoint pen.
  • Changing answers on the OMR sheet is not allowed.
  • Erasing or obliterating any information printed on the OMR sheet is a punishable offence.
  • Rough work should be done on the test booklet only.
  • A candidate must not forget to mark the test booklet code on the OMR sheet.

NEET 2023 pattern: An Overview of the Question paper

The NEET question paper will have three subjects, according to the NEET exam pattern 2023. The subject-wise weightage and breakup of the question paper are shown below:

  • Section A consisted of 35 questions, one for each subject (question numbers: 001 to 035, 051 to 085, 101 to 135, and 151 to 185). All questions are compulsory.
  • Section B considered 15 questions in each subject (question numbers: 036 to 050, 086 to 100, 136 to 150, and 186 to 200). Section B: A candidate must attempt any 10 of 15 in each subject.
  • Candidates were advised to read all 15 questions in section B of each subject carefully before they started attempting the question paper. In the case of a candidate attempting more than 10 questions, the first 10 questions answered by the candidate will be evaluated.

Important points to be noted while choosing the medium of the NEET 2023 exam include:

  • The medium of question has to be named in the NEET 2023 application.
  • Once chosen, the language cannot be changed.
  • Candidates opting for any other language will be provided with a bilingual test booklet, their selected language preference, and English.
  • In the event of any ambiguity in the translation of any of the questions, the English version of the NEET question paper will be considered final.
