Deciding which college to spend your four years in is one of the most critical steps you should never take lightly. Here is where you start to rely on yourself, and core values are tested throughout this journey. So how do you end up finding a place where your Christian values are not only encouraged but also valued?

When selecting a Christian college, you need to be strategic to select one that fits your needs. However, today there are a lot of Christian colleges, and it’s quite tricky selecting the right one for you. To help you in choosing the right Christian college, here are some tips you can use while making your decision;

  1. Check whether your values align with the Christian college
  2. Check the college’s application requirements
  3. Plan a college visit
  4. Think of the extracurricular activities
  5. Community service and missionary opportunities

Since all colleges are different, especially the online Christian colleges, you may need to check the one with similar values as yours. First, check the college’s mission statement and its core values and look at their Bible study as you will be practicing your faith here. Also, check at the chapel, the v campus ministry, and their voluntary groups. Once you check all of these, ask yourself if you fit in, and if it’s a yes, you are on the right track.

Different applications are required for various colleges. With this in mind, make sure to look at them before applying. Most importantly, ensure the college accepts the Common App or the Coalition App. This is because these apps gives you a chance to apply to various colleges to increase your chances of acceptance.

Before applying, check the requirements and the deadline for application. This way, you won’t miss the deadline, and you will avoid being deferred or miss being admitted.

A visit to the school gives you a chance to see what the college is like. You will see the classes, see how the students behave, and judge the overall outlook of the college. Visiting the school will make you see what their website does not provide. You will get to cut down the list you have and even get over your past impressions.

You may not be interested in basketball or football and may need to participate in other extracurricular activities. You, therefore, need to look at the available activities in the different colleges. This way, you will not be confused about what you need to do during your free time or add to your credentials. After all, you will not be spending all your time in classes. Remember, Christian colleges offer extracurricular activities that other secular colleges don’t. This includes Bible studies and building lasting friendships based on Christ.

Building resumes while at college is critical. Because of this, it would be best if you took a look at the community services and the missionary opportunities. Once you do this, the Christian college with the strongest missionary and community service program should be top of your list. Once you select it, you will not only create an academic and personal portfolio, but you will also be the best version of yourself.

Take your time to select the right Christian college for you. This way, you will not only have a great time in college, but you will succeed once you are done with your four years. Therefore, follow the above tips to help you make the right decision.
