Tom Ince and Andy Carroll Inspire Reading Win

Reading’s long-awaited victory against Bristol City saw them return to winning ways. Two goals from Mamadou Loum and Andy Carroll gave Paul Ince’s side a vital victory in Berkshire.

Blackpool suffered their third successive defeat and fell to relegation-threatened Reading in a match to forget. Tom Ince and Andy Carroll put the Royals ahead early on, with the Tangerines unable to respond.

Amadou Mbengue

Amadou Mbengue was not initially listed on Reading’s summer free transfer list but has proven to be an invaluable addition. In a backline that can be slow at times, Mbengue has taken up the slack with enthusiasm and determination, displaying commitment and hard work.

He’s been an invaluable asset in the second half of the season and could potentially be Reading’s long-term solution. His versatility allows him to play in a wide role or on either side of a back three, as well as in full back pairings.

Casemiro had an incredible night, scoring twice with stunning Antony passes to ghost in and lift the ball over Joe Lumley. Fred then added a third goal with an exquisite flicked finish.

United were in control in the second half and made Reading pay for their early errors as they won 2-1 for a second consecutive season. A magnificent double from Casemiro and another superb goal from substitute Fred propelled United into the fifth round of the FA Cup with this win that will send them into next weekend’s semifinals.

Mamadou Loum

The news that Mamadou Loum will join Reading on loan for the upcoming Championship campaign is an enormous boost. At 25 years old, he is an acclaimed midfielder whose style of play perfectly suits Paul Ince’s approach.

As well as his good reputation, the Senegalese international has extensive European competition experience. He has played for FC Porto and Alaves, helping his country win the Africa Cup of Nations in February.

In an interview with the club website, Loum expressed his ambition to help Reading climb up the EFL Championship table this season. Additionally, he expressed his excitement at working alongside Ince.

The Royals bounced back from their disappointing defeat to Rotherham with a 2-0 victory over Bristol City. The game featured an inspiring display from the side and was highlighted by goals from Mamadou Loum and Andy Carroll.

Tom Ince

Reading made it a memorable afternoon as Tom Ince and Andy Carroll inspired them to victory against Cardiff City in the first home Championship match of the season. Despite going behind early on, the Royals came out fighting and earned all three points with ease.

Last week, Ince made the difficult decision to leave Stoke City. But he is eager to embrace the challenge that lies ahead at Berkshire’s Select Car Leasing Stadium.

He discussed his decision to join the club and why he is excited for what lies ahead.

On deadline day, the 30-year-old signed a loan deal from Stoke City with Liam Moore going the other way and is eager to take on the challenges that lie ahead at Reading.

In recent weeks, the former Manchester United midfielder has become a fan favourite and it appears he has already made an impact on the Reading squad. As they struggle to gain ground in the Championship, Ince can serve as motivation and keep everyone focused on securing their place in the second tier next season.

Andy Carroll

Andy Carroll is a towering physical striker with extensive top-level experience. He scored 33 goals for Newcastle United and won the League Cup during his time there, before joining Liverpool in a PS35 million deal.

At this stage in his career, he earned a place in the Three Lions’ Euro 2012 squad and also scored in both FA Cup semi-final matches against Everton and Chelsea.

He played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s 2012-2013 season, which saw them gain promotion to the Premier League and reach the League Cup final. Upon being named Liverpool Player of the Year, he earned himself both Player of the Season and Football Writers Association awards for best playmaker.

He left Liverpool in 2022/23 and joined West Bromwich Albion, then on loan at Reading for the first half of this season. While he has yet to make an impact with Reading so far, his wealth of experience should help him get match fit soon enough.
