Nearby, there is a Smiths, an Albertson’s, and a slew of restaurants and other businesses. Although doctors must travel a bit farther than they did when they lived in California, they are not isolated in the least. It’s a pleasant place to be. Everything in Vegas is far away from something that is important to you at some point.
It takes an additional 5-10 minutes to get something exceptional, but Target, Smith’s (grocery), video rental, dry cleaners/nails/etc are all less than 5 minutes away. In terms of paying for a house in Southern Highlands, that’s a different story.
Community of the Southern Highlands
Southern Highlands has two distinct housing areas: the northern area, which is home to more affordable homes and condos with tree-lined streets, and the southern area, which is home to the upscale Southern Highlands Golf Club, also known as The Estates, which offers more secluded, luxury homes situated on the grounds of a private golf course and typical of the kind found in more affluent neighborhoods.
Six huge parks with covered play areas, gazebos, water features, and walking routes, tennis and basketball facilities, and the Paseo hiking and bicycling trail that weaves through the community are just a few of the outdoor attractions in Southern Highlands. Two dog parks are also available for the enjoyment of pet owners.
There are two retail centers in the Southern Highlands area, as well as a wealth of dining and shopping options for local residents to enjoy, just 15 minutes away from the world-renowned shopping and dining on the Las Vegas Strip. There are a number of excellent public schools in the Clark County area for students to choose from, including Evelyn Stuckey Elementary School, Tarkanian Middle School, and Desert Oasis High School, all of which are well-known for the quality of their curricula and their ability to prepare students for successful futures. Firefighters and a Community Association work together to keep Southern Highlands safe, and many residents enjoy a sense of community that is created by the Community Association, which is responsible for a variety of events and neighborhood standards enforcement. The parks and landscaped common areas, as well as the 24-hour roving security guard, are funded by monthly assessments.
