Webmail is the most common type of email that is used by everyone in the world. Almost all emails are sent via webmail. So, if you are going to use email for your business or personal purpose then you should master the art of using webmail. If you don’t know what is webmail and why and how you should use it then read this entire blog post.
Webmail is an email which is accessed through the internet and it looks like a normal email to the people who send it, but when you receive webmail you will see a small envelope icon on the top right corner of the screen. If you click on that envelope icon, you will get a pop-up menu that will allow you to reply to the message, forward it to someone else or delete it. That is how an average user will use webmail. But there is something more you can do with webmail which is not possible with a normal email.
When you access webmail, you will also see an inbox, a sent mail folder, and a few other folders. The Inbox is where all the new messages are stored and it is divided into several labels. There may be only one label in your case but it will have many labels for the person who owns the webmail account. For example, if you are using yahoo mail then your inbox will have several labels like Drafts, Flagged, Important, Personal, and so on. You can also create your labels as per your convenience. When you create a new label, all the emails which have that label will appear in a separate folder. That is how you can intelligently organize your email.
The next thing I want to discuss is how you should use webmail. Webmail is perfect for a few things like checking your email when you are on the go or from a public computer or for receiving bulk mails like newsletters or offers. Webmail is not at all recommended for sending bulk emails or important mails like paying bills. Those types of emails need to be sent via normal email and not via webmail. The only exception is if you send an email with an attachment or a large file size, then it is okay to use webmail for sending that particular email.
Webmail is also very useful if you are trying to keep your email address private because people will not be able to see the actual email address of the person who sent you the message. They will only see the name of the person who owns the email account which has been given as a sender name. So, using webmail will add an extra layer of security for your email address. It will look like an ordinary email to everyone except the owner of the email account.
I hope I have made my point about how webmail is very useful and why you should use it. Nowadays most the people don’t even know what is webmail and how it is different from a normal email. So, I am going to explain it in detail here.
