Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) was founded on December 15, 1963. All Kendriya Vidyalaya schools are enrolled in one of the best boards in the country, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and use standard textbooks developed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The primary goal of this Sangathan was to provide a good education for government employees who are frequently transferred from their homes, often in the middle of the year. Typically, private schools do not accept students in the middle of the school year. Previously, it was difficult for students to gain kvs admission in the middle of the school year, but now Kendriya Vidyalayas in the form of ‘Central Schools’ stepped in.
The benefits and reasons why Kendriya Vidyalayas are superior to private schools in India are as follows:
1. Teachers who are absolutely qualified
KVS teachers are highly qualified and interact well with students.
The vast majority of teachers in private schools are unqualified. They are frequently asked to teach even if it is not their area of expertise. Most private schools lack a teacher evaluation system. Teachers in private schools are typically chosen based on their connections and power rather than their efficiency, knowledge, and talent. Aside from that, kvs online admission has an upper age limit, which is not always the case in private schools. Teachers must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree (TGT or PGT), a B.ed (with at least 50% marks), and have passed the CTET exam. Even those admitted on a temporary basis are thoroughly interviewed. This ensures that all of the teachers are qualified and can teach in both English and Hindi.
2. A large campus area, labs, and adequate lab equipment
Almost every Kendriya Vidyalaya has the following facilities: Computer labs with at least 10 computers, a music room with all of the major musical instruments, an art room filled with paintings, large classrooms with blackboards (most senior classes have projectors as well), an AV room with a large projector and good sound system, a large stage or a prayer hall, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology labs with all necessary equipment (more than enough) and lab assistants also includes a cricket pitch, among other things, a sports room with all sports equipment, a library with a large collection of books, a small canteen, and numerous other amenities. Apart from this staff room, the principal’s cabin, toilets, examination room, MI room (Medical aid room in case of a medical emergency), and so on are all very clean and well-equipped. These are government institutions, so they have a large campus. The majority of Kendriya Vidyalayas are located in military or cantonment areas, making them safer for children. Even if the school is not in the Cantonment area, it is usually located in the middle of a city or town and is not too far from a city. This makes it easier for students to travel. Typically, large private schools are located far from the city, and those that are located in the city have very small campus areas.
3. Extracurricular pursuits
Sports and sports meets, CCA (Co-curricular Activities), yoga, music, dance, art and crafts, SUPW (Socially Useful Productive Work) or WE (Work Experience), NSS (National Service Scheme), Scouts and Guides, NCC (National Cadet Corps), Social Science exhibition, Science exhibition, large and small educational trips, rallies, Days celebrations, personality growth programmes, olympiads, and many other activities are examples. All of these contribute to the child’s overall development. In sports, students from all over the country (KVians only) gather to compete in all major sports played across the country. To reach the SGFI, one must first pass the school, cluster, regional, state, and national levels (School Games Federation of India). Similarly, in Social Science and Science exhibitions, students participate in dance, singing, quizzes, working models, articles, speeches, and other activities. These are held every year. Olympiads assist students in improving their IQ and aptitude.
4. Low fees and a positive reputation
Kendriya Vidyalaya’s fee structure is very low, especially when compared to other private schools. Aside from that, there is a significant relaxation for some students of the reserved category and certain students, such as single girl children and children of KVS staff, etc. On the contrary, teachers and staff are well compensated in order to achieve better results. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan’s results were always positive. Aside from that, KVs have a very good reputation throughout India. When a job applicant shows their CV with the results of a KV, they make a very good first impression on the interviewer.
5. Culture diversity
Those who have previously studied in KVs believe that the majority of KVians are capable of overcoming any obstacle in life. This is due to KV’s diverse cultural backgrounds. Students come from all over the country. It’s as if students from various religions and casts are dispersed across different KVs. As a result, students and teachers from almost every part of the country, religion, and caste can be found in every KV. This adds to the area’s diversity. All students from various backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, and religious practises live in the same room as friends. Some of them leave because of frequent transfers, and new friends join them. This makes a person feel at ease with everyone, reduces bias among students, and teaches humanity. Language is another advantage of this. Because the majority of students do not understand the regional language, everyone is forced to switch to either Hindi or English, which is not the case in most private schools. It is clear that the level of comfort between teachers and students is very high in KVs. There are KVs where teachers teach students during the school day and then play on the school grounds with their spouses and children in the evening. This is sometimes true of the region’s commanding officer and the school’s principal. This bonding and level of understanding is extremely difficult to maintain in any private school.
