Why does Windows 11 exist if Microsoft promised Windows 10 as “the last Windows in history”?

Microsoft has been oweing us an explanation for quite some time. Microsoft referred to Windows 10 as “the last version of Windows in history” in a 2015 statement. Moreover, as time has shown, this was far from reality. When Windows 11 was released in 2021, many people were left scratching their heads, wondering what had happened to the promise given by the Redmond behemoth. While many people question if it is still worthwhile to abandon a version of Windows 10 that is completely mature, Microsoft has finally chosen to explain why Windows 11 exists.

The pandemic as a reason for the end of Windows 10 eternity

With the use of the term, In an event when Microsoft unveiled news about Windows 11, Wangui McKelvey, General Manager of Microsoft 365, said the following:

“When we announced a new version of Windows, it surprised some of you. You guys told me ‘I thought Windows 10 was the latest version ever, what happened? My friends, what happened was the global pandemic.

How, when, and where we work has changed dramatically overnight. Digital transformation has accelerated faster than we could have predicted. So Windows had to change too. A new version designed for hybrid work was absolutely necessary. But every day presents new challenges. continue to evolve, and you will evolve in your work, regardless of the surprises that each day brings.”

Sincerely? It’s not the type of justification that holds up under scrutiny. Particularly when we look at Windows 11 and see no big improvements to merit a new version of the operating system, much alone a new name for it. To summarise, we have here the news of the late Windows 10X, which might very well be a substantial upgrade to the Windows 10 operating system itself.

Furthermore, increasing the minimum operating system requirements solely to receive this update was not very logical. Most users will stick with the already consolidated Windows 10 for a long time before upgrading to a newer version of the operating system or upgrading their computer in order to receive the updated software.

Another point put up is the development of Windows itself, which is something that Microsoft themselves assured would be the case with Windows 10. This is an operating system that would always be changing and evolving. The existence of Windows 11 itself demonstrates that not everything said to us during our interrogation was legitimate or truthful.

Small talk

After everything was said and done, Microsoft knew that many customers would use their computers more or invest in new equipment as a result of remote work via Google Duo and study. This was viewed as an ideal chance to profit from the introduction of a new operating system. When it comes down to it, Microsoft and all of its partners have reaped (significant) rewards as a result of the outbreak. Users who want to keep their equipment up to date will have to invest in new hardware since Windows 11 has increased hardware requirements.

And, let’s face it, who doesn’t appreciate easy money in this world? Ready. Everything has been well explained.
