How the CAT result 2025 is calculated?
Before getting into the CAT percentile calculation, here’s a quick reminder of the marking scheme you must already know about:
- +3 for each correct answer
- -1 for each incorrect answer
- 0 marks for each unanswered question
- No negative marking for TITA or non-MCQ questions
Now, the CAT percentile is calculated in the following way:
- You will be first marked section-wise, and then your overall score will be calculated by adding the sectional scores.
- Your section-wise and overall scores will be normalised to come to a scaled CAT score.
- These normalised scores will then be converted into percentiles, which will reflect on your CAT scorecard.
What factors are taken into account when normalising CAT data?
Below are the factors taken into account for normalisation:
- Highest score
- Lowest score
- Mean score
- Median score
- Top 10 percentiles
- Lowest 10 percentiles
