Pamela E. ‘Pam’ Ferris stepped into this world on 11 May 1948. She was born in Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany, however, was raised by her parents in the village of Aberkenfig, near Bridgend in Wales. Her father, Frederick John Ferris, served in the Royal Air Force and later worked as a police officer; and her mother, Ann Ethel Perkins, worked in the family bakery business. She has a sister named Barbara. When Pam was 13, her family decided to migrate to New Zealand. Moreover, she holds both German as well as British nationality and belongs to the White Caucasian ethnic group.

At the age of 22, Pam returned to the UK and began to perform in a variety of regional theaters. She made her debut film appearance by enacting the role of Deirdre in the drama “To Love A Maori” in the year 1972. Her next starring role would come after over a decade of waiting disguised Mavis in the made-for-TV comedy-drama film “Meantime” (1983) which was directed by Mike Leigh. This was followed by her enactment of the role of Mrs. Smeth in the made-for-TV war drama film “The House” in the year 1984.

Her first major breakthrough role was that of Nesta in the ITV drama series “Connie” alongside Stephanie Beacham and Brenda Bruce, in the year 1985 and the same year, she also featured as Marian Blake in the made-for-TV comedy film “Star Quality”.

In the year 1987, she has enacted the role of Grace in the four-episode drama TV miniseries “Lizzie’s Picture”, followed by a set of numerous guest appearances in TV series such as “Hardwicke House”, “The Fear”, and “South Of The Border”, to name a few. Later in the same year, she featured as Mrs. Markham in the BBC drama miniseries “The Tenant Of Wildfell Hall.” Pam landed the role of Peggy Snow in the ITV drama series “Where The Heart Is” (1997-2000), for which she earned three National Television Award nominations for Most Popular Actress.

Her next major roles were that of Pat Fletcher in the BBC drama series “Clocking Off” in 2003, and of Laura Thyme in the ITV mystery thriller series “Rosemary & Thyme” (2003-2006). In the year 2004, she portrayed the role of Aunt Marge in the third installment of the “Harry Potter” franchise titled “Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban”, opposite Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, which was a huge success. In 2006, came her enactment of the role of Miriam in the sci-fi action-thriller film “Children Of Men”, and of Grace Poole in the BBC adaptation of Charlotte Bronte’s “Jane Eyre.”
