Gordon Ramsay Professional Life

Culinary Career:

In the 1980s, Ramsay worked as a commis chef at the Wroxton House Hotel, after which he went on to run the kitchen at the Wickham Arms. He decided to move to London, where he worked in several restaurants prior to landing a job working for the infamous chef Marco Pierre White at Harvey’s. White is known for his temperamental behavior and after working for two years and 10 months for him, Ramsay grew tired of White’s “rages and the bullying and violence.” Ramsay went to work for Albert Roux and Le Gavroche in Mayfair so that he could study French cuisine. It was here that he crossed paths with his now maître d-hotel at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Jean-Claude Breton. After working for just about a year at Le Gavroche, Roux extended Ramsay an invitation to work with him as his No.2 at Hotel Diva, a ski resort in the French Alps. This was followed by Ramsay moving to Paris so that he could work with the two Michelin-starred chefs – Guy Savoy and Joel Robuchon.
